Reports concerning school notebooks featuring Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s image that replicate Vladimir Putin’s visuals are fabricated. The Centre for Strategic Communications denies the existence of such notebooks in Ukraine.
Claims of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s picture appearing on school diaries sold in Kyiv stationery stores, supposedly mimicking imagery associated with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, are false. This information is reported by the Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC), as communicated by УНН.
Details
It is stated that no confirmation exists for such notebooks “neither in Kyiv, nor anywhere in Ukraine”. Furthermore, the pictures circulate exclusively through Russian sources without naming any store, manufacturer, or providing sales specifics.
As fact-checkers highlight, … Ukrainian stores might carry calendars or souvenir items with President Zelenskyy’s image, but not school diaries. Particularly not ones carrying a photo that imitates dictator Putin’s visuals
– emphasized by the Centre.
The Centre indicates Russian propaganda invents falsehoods to ridicule Ukrainian statehood and falsely attribute a “personality cult” to Ukrainians – a practice characteristic of Russians themselves.
Background
Previously, the Centre for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC of Ukraine cautioned that Russian propaganda has intensified a campaign to discredit Ukrainian soldiers. It warned they are spreading false information about alleged “inhumane tactics” and “abuse of civilians”.
