86 років з дня підписання пакту Молотова-Ріббентропа: Україна закликає світ не повторювати помилок минулого

Eighty-six years ago, on August 23, 1939, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its clandestine protocols, which proposed the partitioning of Europe between Hitler’s Germany and the Soviet Union, were finalized in Moscow. This agreement served as a catalyst for World War II. This information was reported by UNN, citing a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Details

The Ministry noted that this event acted as a trigger for the Second World War, which commenced with a coordinated assault on Poland by two totalitarian regimes—Nazi Germany from the west and the communist USSR from the east.

These military operations materialized the secret protocols signed in Moscow, culminating in a joint military parade by Wehrmacht and Red Army units in Brest, located within occupied Poland.

– emphasized the Ministry.

Officials highlighted that the pact resulted in the combined invasion of Poland by Germany and the Soviet Union, followed by the Brest military parade. This marked the beginning of a global catastrophe that claimed between 70 and 85 million lives.

Reflecting on historical lessons, we stress that achieving lasting peace requires intensified pressure on the aggressor state, russia, and bolstering Ukraine’s defensive capabilities and resilience. A just resolution to russian aggression will stand as evidence that the international community has learned from 20th-century mistakes, ensuring the motto “Never Again!” holds tangible meaning for current generations.

– stated the Ministry.

The Foreign Ministry added that historical insights remain critically relevant today, as Moscow, mirroring its actions 86 years prior, continues to forcibly redraw European borders and promotes distorted interpretations of 1939 events to justify aggression.
